For me the most important part of what I did was that I had the ability to really start up something from scratch. When you enter the pharmaceutical industry you are entering one big company or most of the things already settled, strategy already set out and so on. So you are coming in one of our big corporate culture most of the times. And by entering into this I really could have influence on everything of the company from office space into strategy, from strategy into hiring people and from hiring people, building up teams and managing teams. So you’re much more entrepreneurial and this brought me a lot so that you can also handle the hurdles. By setting up this business I really got the ability to explore my entrepreneurial skills and I think for me it helped me a lot during the rest of my career.

The biggest impact I think is that I learned that to stay authentic and stay with yourself, that’s the most important. So don’t do or don’t show behavior like others do or don’t try to copy, but learn and listen and look, but stay authentic. I think that’s the most important thing I learned from this. You need to take risks, sometimes even not calculated risks but take a risk but be yourself. I think that’s for me the most important tip that I could give. Let’s say people starting business. I think it’s very important that you had a direction which you like. I think you need to like a job and you need to be happy when you’re stepping out of your car in the morning. I think that’s very important so I think that’s the first step. What do you want, and mainly here (points to heart). And I think that’s very important. After that I think you start to approach, at least I start to approach my network. Through the years I built a big network so I always use the network. I don’t believe in advertising, whatever. I think it starts within the network.

And I think the third thing is stay focused. Don’t get nervous. If nothing appears because probably you are in a moment that there are not that many jobs you want, so don’t get nervous. Stay calm because the opportunity you want will come and the moment it comes you need to be there and you need to go 100% for it. I think that’s very important, but stay focused and do the things you like.
