Video Transcription:

I started this business because I was diagnosed with ALS. Already now, 6 ½ years ago on June 2010. I didn’t immediately start the company, I have other companies as well. I been an entrepreneur all my life in oil and shipping, completely different, but after a while, after one year of checking some boxes off of my bucket list, I met a fellow entrepreneur here in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. And we decided to move along together to well, we say that we’ll kick some ass, is a fairly English translation, to change the things that were going on in ALS. And not only in research, we are the founders of Project Mine which has become the largest genetic project in the world. It is the largest collaboration study in ALS ever. We have already got funding for over 50 million dollars.

If you are diagnosed with ALS, that’s a disease that I think has no cause or has no known cause at the moment. It’s difficult your world tumbles down on you in one day and you’re going to a rollercoaster, that’s really every critical illness and you don’t know what to expect. But, you can sit still and wait until what the doctors say and wait until what the research has found, but you can also stand up and proactively participate not only in research, but also try to change things. And I think change be done by everyone, but it starts with yourself and everyone can do it and that’s hence the reason why my slogan from day one has been “One man can and will find a way so why not be that man?”

I once said that we are developing drugs the Rotterdam style, the Rotterdam way, because of my background in my other business in main shipping and the oil business and there’s not time for bullshit because the ship comes in port and it needs to leave in 12 hours and everything has to be delivered on time 24 hours a day so you have to be a very, you have to have a very shrewd organization. You have no time for bullshit so implementing a company is being very direct not only to patients, but to researchers to finance people to everybody involved in the value chain. This is our goal, this is what we need to do, this is what we want, this is how we want it and which timeframe we want it. Are you in or are you out?
